Mike Antunes
With his illustrious musical background, Mike “Tunes” Antunes is a perfect fit as a judge on Community Auditions. Best known as the amazing sax player for “John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band”, he was also a side man for Chuck Berry and Gary U.S. Bond. Born in Dartmouth, MA, Mr. Antunes started out on trumpet. He switched to sax in high school and never looked back. In 1975 he joined “Beaver Brown”. The band had a huge club following (Time Magazine called them best unsigned band in America), in 1982 they recorded the soundtrack for the movie “Eddie and the Cruisers”. “Tunes” also played the part of Wendell, the sax player in the movie. 3 million sold copies of the soundtrack later, they were featured in “Eddie and the Cruisers II” and “Eddie Lives!”. The band’s music can also be heard in “Something About Mary”, “Jersey Girl”, “Cobra” and “Rocky IV”. Mike now lives in Rhode Island, is the proud father and uncle of many accomplished musicians and continues to be the amazing sax player of “John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band”.
